SEGA JAPAN officially launched the 2nd Alpha Test for Phantasy Star Online 2 yesterday! As for now PSO2 Alpha2 does not have an NDA, just as long as users indicate that the game is still in it's early phases. With that said, all of the information and media you find on this game may turn out to be irrelevant in the future. The servers were a little bit laggy due to the overwhelming amount of players participating in the alpha test. I would say my first day of testing went rather well, I managed to beat the last dungeon of the test and hit close to the level 20 cap. I've recorded over an hours worth of 1080p HD gameplay videos for those of you who missed my livestream session last night.
PSO2 Dragon Instance
I really like the mission and questing system of Phantasy Star Online 2 Alpha2 Test because it is very convenient. The party leaders decides on the mission for your party. After the leader picks a certain mission you can jump straight into action without picking up any quests and such. Once you're inside the instance there are a bunch of mini objectives that you can randomly complete. The mini quests or objectives gives you a decent amount of experience points. These quests range from killing small monsters, collecting items, killing huge monsters, rescue mission, and etc. Depending on the mission instance your party leader picks, there will be boss at the end of the dungeon.
First Time Volcano Dragon
Ahhh.. this sure brings back nostalgic memories of the De Ragan Dragon of PSU, I really can't remember the exact name at the moment. The dragon fights were really challenging or maybe it's because the server was lagging? It was really scary when the dragon actually landed attacks on me or my team members. Sometimes it would one shot us, especially if we had the berserker stance on. I would love to farm this boss over and over but I think it's broken, since it doesn't seem to drop any loot at all. I will probably try to solo this boss later on after I grind my weapon and such!
Room Customization
I decided to play around in my room and see what has changed during the past few years. You can now add two room extensions to your main room one to the left and one to the right, each room has their own balcony. You'll be able to buy preset wallpaper skins for one room at a time as seen the room customization video above. I found the new room customization really fun, I will probably play around with this feature a lot more later on. Anything is possible with three customizable rooms. For example, you can buy a bunch of washing machines and make a laundry room, purchase a couple beds for a guest room, buy some furniture and instruments for the lounge room, a really huge bathroom, and etc. Let's hope that we can fully customize our own rooms in the future, I would love to have an high tech onsen in one of my room extensions.
